Nipomo is a small town growing in leaps and bounds.  Highway 101, a primary freeway for the region and preferred road for coastal travelers between Los Angeles and San Francisco passes through the town.

Weekend travelers recognize Nipomo for its hillside swap meet located on the west side of the freeway.

What Nipomo is really known for, however, is Black Lake Golf Course,  Central Coast's only 27 hole golf resort. The course is open to the public, offering three- nine hole challenges for golfers of all skill levels. From water pools and scenic coastal hills on the original "Lakes and Canyon" layout, to the unspoiled natural beauty of the newest nine, the "Oaks", this is a unique  and affordable championship golf course.  Call for prices and tee time information. (805) 343-1214

And if you want to discover what it will cost for a golf course view, drop by the model homes surrounding the course. With prices not quite matching Los Angles and San Francisco market value, retirees especially find Black Lake a big draw when looking to relocate.

native garden Nipomo Native Gardens located at Camino Caballo and Pomeroy is a forest of  native plants and trees, maintained by volunteers from the society of the same name. Drop by the library on Teft Street to get a copy of their latest newsletter plus many valuable community information flyers, pamphlets and brochures.
Once a private ranch and popular stopping point along the El Camino Real between the missions of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, a trademark of Nipomo is the scenic roads, lined with hundreds of blue gum eucalyptus trees. Striking views of blue skies and green rolling hills give the feel of rural life.

He became a Mexican citizen in 1835 and eventually received a land grant (a rancho) of more than 37,000 acres at Nipomo, in what would later become San Luis Obispo County. The Dana rancho extended from the Santa Maria River north to the present Los Berros Road, and from the Santa Lucia foothills to the shores of the Pacific. The historic landmark is owned and operated by the San Luis Historical Society which offers tours on Sundays from 2 to 4 pm or by calling (805) 929-2570.
